Columbus Laughs Day

Depression, anxiety, and stress are commonplace in our society, being further exacerbated by the COVID 19 pandemic, and linked to an increase risk of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. Columbus Memory Center has a plan; let’s laugh our way to better brain health through Laughing Yoga exercises.

Columbus Memory Center wishes to invite you to participate in Columbus Laughs Day on April 30th. Columbus Laughs Day, founded by Dr. Jonathan L. Liss, is funded as part of the Columbus Memory Project™ and the Healthy Brain Initiative™. This is a community-wide project to improve the brain health of our citizenry.

Columbus Memory Project™

In 2016, Columbus Memory Center, in conjunction with Columbus Consolidated Government, launched a city-wide initiative to test every eligible senior for cognitive impairment for free. This initiative was coined the Columbus Memory Project™, and made annual memory testing convenient and affordable for every senior. After its launch, Columbus Memory Project™ received international recognition as the first city-wide Alzheimer’s testing effort of its kind. Columbus Memory Project™ also consists of open forum meetings, called Memory Town Halls, community outreach efforts that allow for free, on-site memory testing for churches and civic groups and enrollment opportunities in ongoing FDA approved research conducted at the facility, where eligible.

The Memory Number®

The Memory Number® is widely regarded as the first and only vital sign for brain health. The free and self-administered test offers a baseline understanding of brain health in approximately 15-minutes. The written or digital test evaluates how the brain is firing and assigns a number between zero and 22 to be easily shared with family members or a physician. Results are expected in approximately two weeks and will include a detailed explanation of the test score and recommendations of what our primary physician, Dr. Jonathan L. Liss, believes are the next steps in treatment or care. Memory Number® tests can be obtained at our office at 7196 North Lake Drive in Columbus, Georgia, without an appointment Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
